Dinner with Patrizio and Karaoke

So a bunch of us girls decided to go out for a big sit down dinner Thursday night since none of us had class on Friday.  The place we choose was right next to Il Duomo that Beth (our program coordinator) had suggested.  The place was pretty small, but they found a way to put tables together to accommodate all 9 of us.  We ordered a bunch of things to share as a group, such as water, wine, bread, and appetizers.  The caprese was ok, but I think I got used to how I make it.  The other appetizer we ordered was something di speck.  Essential it was bacon wrapped around warm goat cheese that came with lettuce and tomatos.  Put it all together and it was epically delicious, but VERY messy.

The owner of the restaurant ended up frequenting our table, making sure we were enjoying everything.  He ended up giving us a free shot glass of dessert wine each.  Despite it being in a shot glass, he did inform us that it is to be sipped slowly and not shotted quickly like typical americans.  He then explained to us the origin of it's name along with the history.  The drink is call vino santo which means 'saintly wine' or 'holy wine'.  He was such a sweetheart and said we will get a discount the next time we go :)

Afterwards, we attempted to go dancing, but every dance place seemed to be closed on thursdays... did they not get the memo?  College students like to go out THURSDAY NIGHTS!  No matter, we found this place recommended to us by a friend that had FREE karaoke EVERY NIGHT :D  So we grabbed some seats in the cellar and waited for the mic to be free.  At first, all the songs we heard were NOT in English so we weren't sure if it had english karaoke tracks.  By the 3rd or 4th song, people were ONLY doing songs in ENGLISH!   Thank GOODNESS.  Tealy and I ended up singing "Oops, I Did It Again" by Britney Spears.  It was a phenomenal performance because we even included the titanic heart of the ocean part during the instrumental break even though it wasn't on the screen. =]  Sarah and Sam also sang "I'm a Believer" by Smash Mouth and I recorded the whole thing with Sam's camera.  To be released later... One of the guys there did pull Sarah on stage in the middle of his song to have her sing with him.  Of course he also kissed her on the cheek repeatedly on stage... typical Italian.  'Ciao Bella'
